A

Accumulator (Acca): A bet combining multiple selections, where all must win for the bet to pay. Each leg multiplies the odds of the previous, creating large potential payouts but lower hit rates. Compound bookmaker margin makes accumulators mathematically poor long-term value.

All-in: Either a poker term (betting all your chips) or a sports betting term (the bet stands regardless of late changes — e.g. weather, team selection).

Asian Handicap: A handicap betting market that eliminates draw outcomes through fractional lines (-0.5, -1.5, etc.). Common in football and rugby betting.

B

Bankroll: Money set aside exclusively for gambling, separate from essential funds.

Banker: In baccarat, the second of three main bets (alongside Player and Tie); has the lowest house edge at 1.06%. Also: a key selection in an exotic horse racing bet.

Bet365 / Betway / etc: Specific bookmaker brands. Always check the SA-licensed status before depositing.

Book / Bookmaker: The operator accepting bets and setting odds.

Buy-in: Money put up to enter a poker tournament or sit at a cash game table.

Deposit Match: A bonus type where the operator matches your deposit (often 100%) up to a maximum amount.

Double Down: Blackjack action: double your bet and take exactly one more card.

Draw No Bet (DNB): Bet on a team to win where draws return your stake. Lower payout than 1X2 but eliminates draw risk.
